Arun Mathur, FCPA, FCA has spent over four decades at the intersection of professional accounting, ethics, governance, and leadership development. He has worked with hundreds of organizations, presented to thousands of CPAs, and built a career defined not just by technical mastery but by an unwavering belief that the accounting profession is much more than the bottom line – it is about protecting the public interest.

Arun Mathur, FCPA, FCA began his career at EY — one of the world's most prestigious professional services firms, with decades in public practice, including as a partner at Gerald Duthie & Co. LLP. Across more than 45 years, he developed deep expertise in accounting, audit, tax, information systems, and business advisory. But even as the practice grew, his real passion was about helping other professionals think more clearly, lead more confidently, and act with greater integrity.

That passion eventually led him to found UltimQuest Knowledge Inc. and to dedicate the second chapter of his career entirely to professional development, mentorship, and the advancement of the CPA community.

From the boardroom to the classroom and back again.

Over the past 16 years, Arun has delivered live and online CPD training through provincial CPA bodies. He has also delivered training in private organizations, universities, colleges, and business schools across Canada and beyond for an even longer period of time. He has served on prestigious Boards of Directors, advisory boards, and municipal and provincial committees bringing the same standards of governance and ethical leadership to every table he sits at.

In 2018, CPA Ontario honoured him with the Fellowship designation the FCPA, FCA — the highest recognition the Canadian accounting profession bestows upon any member. He was nominated and then selected by a committee of peers, distinguished for his leadership, innovation, high ethical standards, integrity, and community service. He was also appointed Chief Ethics Officer for a Canadian government health agency.

These aren't just credentials. They are the result of decades of showing up, speaking up, and doing the harder, less visible work of building organizations. He has been a trusted adivsor and thought leader within the profession.

Why he built UltimQuest and what drives it.

Arun founded UltimQuest Knowledge Inc. on a conviction he held over many decades: that the accounting profession is uniquely positioned to produce ethical leaders — and the need to provide CPAs with the tools, training, and guidance to grow into that role.

His mission through UltimQuest is to bring about that change. By cultivating ethics and governance champions across the corporate, public, and not-for-profit sectors, Arun is building the kind of profession he has always believed accounting could be — one where CPAs are recognized not as number crunchers, but as trusted advisors, ethical stewards, and leaders at every level of an organization.
